Boucheron — when a 3D mascot becomes a strategic asset
Context & challenge
Wladimir, Boucheron's black cat, has belonged to the House's heritage since its historic campaigns. The brand wanted to bring him back to life in CGI and deploy him across very different formats: LED window displays, holographic devices, retail content for Asia.
Challenge identified
- Recreate an existing character without betraying the brand's memory.
- Achieve a credible fur render in close-up, alongside the jewellery.
- Avoid starting from scratch with every new campaign.
Approach & executive role
IKI Productions supported Boucheron over the long term :
- creation and animation of the character in CGI;
- building a 3D asset reusable from one campaign to the next;
- adapting to the constraints of each format — LED, hologram, retail;
- supervising production across the whole period.
Solution delivered
- A complete, animatable 3D character, adaptable at will.
- Content for boutiques' LED window displays.
- A holographic experience and its animated storyboard.
- Retail content for the Asian market.
Results
About ten films in three years, from a single creative investment.
By treating Wladimir as an asset rather than a one-off production, the initial creation cost was amortised across every following campaign. Each new need — a format, a market, a channel — could be served without starting from scratch.
