Cost control — find out if the quote you received is fair

We analyse your vendors' costed proposals before you sign, and identify what can be optimised without taking anything away from the result.

The problem

A CGI quote is almost impossible to evaluate when it isn't your trade.

Three studios respond to the same brief with three very different figures. Which one is right? Did the cheapest one understand the brief, or underestimate the work — in which case the gap will come back as a change order? Is the most expensive one billing a genuine requirement, or a comfortable margin?

Without a market benchmark, these questions stay unanswered. That's exactly what we provide: a line-by-line reading, done by someone who knows the real cost of each item.

10 to 30%

The average reduction we achieve on a quote we consider unoptimised, without lowering the expected deliverable.

A quote is rarely understood as a single block. It has to be broken apart to see what it actually contains.

Each line item isolated, each volume of work checked separately: it's this line-by-line reading that reveals what's justified — and what isn't.

When we step in

The right moment

Before signing

You've received one or more costed proposals and need to decide. That's where our input adds the most value: nothing is committed yet, everything is still negotiable.

Also possible

Mid-production

A change order lands on your desk and you don't know if it's justified. We can examine the request and help you discuss whether it's warranted and at what price.

What we do

We analyse the quotes received

Line by line, with the volume of work each one assumes. A quote is read as much in what it leaves out as in what it states.

We identify optimisation opportunities

Oversized line items, redundancies, and work that could be handled differently for an equivalent result.

We propose trade-offs

Every saving comes with a trade-off. We present the cost-quality compromise for each option, and you decide.

We flag blind spots

What doesn't appear on the quote and will come back as a change order. This is often where the gap between planned budget and final bill is decided.

Worth knowing

"Do we have to hand you the production afterwards?"

No. Cost control is a standalone service. It can apply to a production you run yourself or entrust to a third party, with no follow-on commitment on our part.

"Are you going to undercut my vendors?"

That's not the goal. An underpaid vendor delivers poorly or comes back with change orders. We look for the fair price, not the low price — which protects your budget as much as the quality of the film.

"Can you share figures from past cases?"

No, and that's normal: these analyses cover confidential quotes belonging to our clients and their vendors. The same confidentiality will apply to your file.

"We rarely produce 3D films."

That's exactly the case where the knowledge gap is widest, and where an outside view brings the most value.
